Our Story
SANDRA'S STORY
Sandra was born in Bogota, Colombia, in October 1983, in a small and loving family. Her father Hector is an entrepreneur who often went on long missions to dig wells for water-deprived communities. Her mother Clarita worked in banking and sales for many years, then dedicated herself to her 2 daughters Maria and Sandra. Sandra studied civil engineering and worked for many years in IT & sales until she met Tim and left for Europe to study for her Master's in Marketing in Barcelona.
TIM'S STORY
Tim was born in Teheran, Iran, in February 1975, and raised in Geneva, Switzerland, together with his younger sister Shahnaz. His father Hamid worked as a public servant for the International Telecommunications Union, and his mother Beatriz was an independent interpreter for the Red Cross and other international organizations. Tim studied political science, then worked in banking until he created his own social investment company, AlphaMundi.
Sandra and Tim met in January 2017 in Bogota, in front of the popular restaurant Andres DC. She immediately decided to test his Swiss dancing skills by taking him to a Vallenato party, under the strict judging of 4 of her best friends. Sandra then raised the challenge and invited Tim to the Carnival of Barranquilla, for a full weekend of Latin dancing and feathers. In exchange, Tim reasonably requested Sandra to quit her job, leave her country, and move to Europe to give their relationship a chance. To his dismay, she accepted. She then taught Tim a key principle of life which can be found, she says, in the Colombian constitution: control is happiness. And long story short, after many traveling adventures, they are getting married!
